At about 3 hours one-way from the city, Wilsons Promontory is going to be a full-day kind of day trip.
Wilsons Promontory (or Wilsons Prom for short) is a HUGE national park, where iconic areas are 30 mins by car from the entrance. Highly recommend renting a car or getting a driver for this trip.
You can stop by regional towns like Loch, Korumburra, or Leongatha on the way to have a meal before getting to the park. Just do a Google Map search of “restaurants” in those areas and pick something that you’d like to try.
- Bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated
- Even if it isn’t sunny, apply sunscreen to your face and body
- Check the weather to prep in case of rain
- Wear comfortable clothes or active wear, sneakers or walking shoes
- You can keep snacks in the car since there are no restaurants or shops at the national park

The hike will take about 2 hours and the first part is easy slopes but closer to the peak the trail becomes narrower, climbing rocks (but with steps). | |
