Going to one of the zoos can be a full day’s worth of activities.
- Book tickets online
- Pack water for yourself and kids (if you have any)
- Pack food if you are on a tight budget; otherwise you may buy meals inside the zoos
- Eat breakfast first before starting out on the day
There are a few zoo’s in Victoria, and I will highlight two options:
Melbourne Zoo – most convenient for tourists as it is nearest the CBD but it is also a very standard zoo, like any other “big” zoo. Accessible by tram or train.
Werribee Open Range Zoo – a little bit more special than the Melbourne Zoo. They have additional animal tours (on top of the general entrance fee) such as Sunset Safari, Deluxe Safari Adventure, and up-close Australian Wildlife experience. They have the free general tours once inside the zoo which has a more specific theme than the Melbourne Zoo.
