Where to stay

There are a lot of international hotel chains in Melbourne CBD, especially if you’re collecting points or have benefits with certain chains like credit card rewards. You can book hotels or serviced apartments.

If you’d like other alternatives or some suggestions here’s a few:

Hotels near Southern Cross Station

Southern Cross Station is convenient because it’s the drop-off location for the airport sky bus and it has regional trains for day trips to places like Ballarat, Geelong, etc. while still being in the middle of the CBD.

Inner city beach-side living

You can look up some serviced apartments or hotels near St Kilda. There’s a lot of cafes and restaurants and many tram stops so you’re always a stone’s throw away from the city. It’ll be very easy to catch an Uber to most places, too.

Charming suburb south of the city

South of the city is South Yarra. It feels charming enough for a town near the city — you’ll be a little bit further away from the high rises but near a major train station and many tram options if you’re keen to go around via public transport.

Different cuisines outside of the big C B D, and you’ll still find bubble tea if you’re craving some sugar 😛

Renting a car and want to try camping?

You can book cabins near or around popular destinations like Wilsons Promontory. Drive all the way to border towns like Shepparton, near the Murray River, for a bit of fishing on top of camping.

We’re happy to lend some camping gear if that’s all you need (we’ve got a double-sized swag, two sleeping bags, a portable stove, eskie, etc.).
